The Devil in the Detials, by Rev. Joe Kelly, Conor Dubh O’Brien, while Black Irish and pagan through and through, is not above doing a job to refill the coin purse. Dig into Conor’s latest adventure!

Huntress of the High Trails, by Robert Rhodes.  Valeriya is a member of an underground railroad, smuggling the defeated Kordesan from their conquered city, but when she has to escort fleeing Imperial refugees all Valeriya’s skill and loyalties are put to the test.

The Head of Spurius Halfheart, by Harry Laurei, ne’er do wells Todric and Yorris see an easy score in collecting a bounty on a recently executed criminal—once they can free his head from his body and make good their escape from the city.  They are not the only dogs on the trail of the reward in this tale of adventure and sorcery.

 

Poetry Contents

Dreams of Stars, by J.D. Harlock. A lone limping airship drifts in the cold winds and is buffeted by the winds of fate.

Elegy for Iskia, City of Garden’s Shade, by Cullen Groves.  Sorcerers venturing into the 5^th world confront many unique dangers in this unique poem!

 

Comic

Last issue we finished off Gary McClusky’s take on Robert Howard’s first pubished story “Spear and Fang“.  Journey back to the stone age with it!

Goings On

David Farney:  David works hard behind the scenes to keep the horses shod and the blades sharp.

Adrian Simmons:  Because he’s a sucker for punishment, Adrian added another subplot to his Secret Novel Project and is grinding on the last 10%.  This has forced out most of his other projects save for Heroic Fantasy Quarterly and his involvement in the 2026 Robert Howard Days Emerging Writers Workshop.

Neil Baker:  Neil continues to critique multiple sub-sub-genres of movies at Black Gate:  Alien Abduction Part 1, Alien Abduction Part 2, a dive into Barbarian movies Part 1,  A dive into Barbarian movies part 2

We are in a great golden age of S&S and when you finish HFQ #68, delve into Swords and Sorceries Volume 12.
